Petra Cortright is a mixed media artist who explores the relationship between technology and identity. Cortright creates large digital works, including digital paintings and internet-based art, that examine the role technology plays in contemporary society. Her digital landscapes, like SP-9750 Driver_“submissive bondage” SYNERGETICS, INC., 2023, juxtapose the conflicting realities of nature and technology while also exploring how technology can transform the relationship between humans and their surrounding environments, whether natural or digital.
Petra Cortright’s work is held in major public and private collections worldwide, including the Musuem of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Hammer Museum, Kunsthaus Zürich, and the Zabludowicz Collection. Her digital-native practice has also been exhibited at institutions such as MoMA PS1, The New Museum, Walker Art Center, and UCCA Beijing, affirming her pivotal role in shaping the discourse around contemporary digital art.
