About

BlackBook is a global arts and culture brand founded in 1996 in downtown NYC by Evanly Schindler. Created in the antithetical spirit of McCarthy’s BlackBook (BlackList), which censored art and artists; our BlackBook ethos is artistic freedom.

First launched as a glossy arts magazine, BlackBook Magazine became famous for its emerging and celebrity artist collaborations. BlackBook expanded developing arts content businesses, partnering with prestigious brands and corporations like AMEX, Mastercard, Apple, HP, LVMH, Gucci, Chanel, Nike, Levis, Moet, amongst others. With awards from the National Arts Clubs and ICP, the brand opened its first art gallery in DUMBO Brooklyn in 2018, and currently does pop-up and traveling shows in partnership with multinational corporations, institutions and foundations. The core principles and creative vision of the company remain anchored in artistic expression at the intersection of cultural dialogue, issues at the cross roads of popular culture
