Faith Ringgold is an American artist and writer who works across painting, sculpture, and performance. Best known for her narrative quilts that explore politics, race, and history, Ringgold’s work is a radical expression of the contemporary Black experience. As of 2019, her large-scale oil painting, American People Series #20: Die (1967), is on view at the Museum of Modern Art.
