Agnes Pelton was a modernist painter who explored the spiritual and meditative qualities of nature. Hayground Windmill, Bridgehampton, c. 1920-22, depicts the historic Hayground Windmill in Bridgehampton, New York, in which Pelton lived. While there, she began painting what would become her signature spiritual abstractions.
